Lithium Ion is playing a significant role in the on-highway car, truck, and bus markets today. While the technology is not as energy dense as internal combustion engines, lithium ion is helping to significantly improve powertrain efficiencies and is moving these markets towards zero emissions at the point of use. Advancing our technical understanding and commercial use of the technology will be paramount as it evolves over the next few decades. This session will provide an introduction to the technology covering lithium ion attributes, battery operation, terminology, cell types, modules, packs, safety, and life in a short 1-hour presentation.
