Fuel Event Description – Formula SAE

Last Updated 4.2.2024

EVENT CAPTAINS: Herb Seubert, Rob Egenolf and Janice Hueske
VENUE: Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, MI, USA
ON-SITE LOCATIONS: Brown Overhang across from G3

Description:
The required octane must be permanently identified on every vehicle, nearby the fuel filler cap, so that it is visible and legible at all times when filling the vehicle with fuel (octane stickers can be obtained at tech or the fuel station). Note: no vehicle will be provided with fuel until it has passed tech inspection. The first portion of a four-part sticker will be applied in a location near the front of the vehicle upon passing tech.

Follow specific safety guidelines while in the fueling area:

  • Engines and all electronics must be shut down and turned off; cars are to be pushed to and from fueling.
  • Only the vehicle push crew and the driver can enter the fueling station. All must have dynamic passes at each visit.
  • Only the driver, in the complete driving gear, with a full and completely functional fire extinguisher in hand, is permitted in the area as fuel is dispensed.
  • A Permanent line mark must be used to indicate the “full” level per Formula SAE rule IC.5.4.5. NO TAPE OR ZIPTIES
  • Tank is to be filled to this level each time fuel is received.
  • Fuel station must update the tech sheet before vehicle proceeds to tilt. Tilt will not accept vehicles with a tech sheet lacking fuel information.
