ANIMALS: No animals allowed.
In accordance with the ADA, service animals that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability are permitted. A service animal must be under the control of its handler. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks.
Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements requesting parts, tools or assistance can be made by the announcer in G1. In addition, the sound system will be FM Broadcasted on frequency 91.5. Event Announcements will also be pushed via the Formula SAE App.
ARRIVAL: To prevent traffic backlogs onto U.S. 12, please arrive no earlier than the scheduled opening time:
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM
Teams arriving early will be asked to leave and wait offsite.
ASK QUESTIONS: If you have a question – ask! If you have any questions about any part of the competition, the schedule, the procedures, the rules, or anything else, just ask one of the officials. The first place to bring questions is to the staff in the registration area.
BE ON TIME: The schedule is post on the Formula SAE App and Series Resources. It is your responsibility to be on time.
BEHAVIOR POLICY: For the safety and enjoyment of all, no alcohol, marijuana (any use), illegal drugs, or weapons are allowed on event grounds. Anyone violating this policy will be immediately removed and may be reported to law enforcement. Please conduct yourself respectfully and courteously at all times.
BRING YOUR DOCUMENTATION: Bring all documents and correspondence related to your SES & ESF submissions plus Rules Questions to tech inspection. Inspectors may not have access to this information, and it will help answer questions about your vehicle’s design. Your cooperation helps ensure a smooth and easy tech process.
DO NOT RUN: Running tells people there’s an emergency. Do not run unless life or limb is in danger.
DRIVER MEETINGS: Attendance is mandatory for all drivers. If you are not present, you will not be allowed to drive.
DYNAMIC/TECH AREA PASSES: Each team receives 4 passes. A pass is required to enter dynamic event areas and for tech inspection. Only 4 team members may accompany the car in tech.
Teams will be supplied 1 ESO pass for the student(s) who must accompany tractive battery onsite.
ENTERING AND EXITING THE SITE:
- Team cars: Park in the MIS Fan Zone near Gate 21. Team members enter via Pedestrian Tunnel under grandstands.
- Formula car transport trucks (box truck or truck/trailer): Must use US 12 (Gate 12) entrance.
- Note: Trucks will cross the track; Gate 12 may close during dynamic events on Friday and Saturday. Arrange escorts in G1 if needed.
- Large transport trucks cannot fit through Gate 21.
EVENT CLOSING TIMES: Friday dynamic event times consist of a staggered opening. All events will close at 5 p.m. Your car must have crossed the starting line by that time, or you can’t run.
PANORAMIC PHOTO: SAE will organize a panoramic photo on the MIS winner’s circle. This will be the only opportunity for teams to access the area for a photograph. The photo is scheduled for Thursday. In the event of inclement weather, a make-up session will be announced for Friday. Any unsupervised access to the winner’s circle will result in removal from the event.
PARKING:
- All team/personal vehicles: MIS Fan Zone only outside track.
- Paddocks for FSAE transporters.
- Trucks detaching from trailers must park in Fan Zone.
- Special temporary overnight trailer passes available at registration.
- Unauthorized vehicles will be towed.
- Accessible parking: Vehicles requiring accessible parking should go directly to the gate guard for entrance. A valid accessible plate or placard is required.
- Please inform registration desk at time of registration to receive an accessible parking pass if returning multiple days.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Only official press for recognized media outlets (news organizations, magazines, TV, etc.)may access the track with an escort and must show proper credentials. SAE provides a hired event photographer, and all photos will be made public. Student teams may use designated viewing areas for their own photography.
PUSH BAR: You can only move your car if you use the push bar.
RECRUITMENT: Recruitment of Formula SAE student talent by non-sponsors is strictly prohibited. Violators will be removed from the venue. Onsite operations require significant resources, and disrespectful behavior harms everyone involved.
RED CAR POLICY: The Red Car Team exists to keep teams, volunteers and spectators safe when a vehicle has a potential electrical or mechanical hazard. When a Red Car is called please follow all instructions from Red Team and MIS Fire & Safety. Your cooperation keeps everyone safe.
REMOVING CARS OVERNIGHT: Overnight removal is team choice. Approval by 5:00 PM required for teams that passed Part Two (magnifying glass) of the tech sticker; sticker will be removed by Tech. Worked-on components must be re-inspected. Violations = disqualification.
Tractive batteries may not be removed from the competition venue. Any team that violates this procedure will be automatically disqualified.
REGISTRATION: Registration for all student competitors, spectators and volunteers will take place in Garage 1. All participants onsite must sign the liability waiver and receive a wristband.
RESTRICTED AREAS: At MIS, teams are only authorized to use the infield, back straight, pit lane, garages, and designated surrounding facilities while the specific event is active. Access to other parts of the main oval, buildings immediately adjacent to the oval, or the bleachers is strictly prohibited. Anyone who violates these restrictions will be removed from the venue.
SECURITY: Keep all equipment and personal belongings secured at all times. MIS is a large site, and the event provides security only at entrance gates. Do not leave tools, computers, or other items unattended—they could be stolen. You are responsible for your own belongings.

SPECTATORS: Spectators are welcome to attend FSAE. Friends and family wishing to watch the competition should park in the MIS Fan Zone near Gate 21 on Brooklyn Highway and enter through the pedestrian tunnels. All spectators must visit Registration in Garage 1 to sign the SAE waiver and receive a wristband.
- Closed-toe shoes are required for all spectators.
- Pets are not permitted.
- Any spectator under the age 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
TRACTIVE BATTERY CHARGING: Every time a team charges onsite in designated area, teams will be required to quarantine for one hour and record required temperature readings.
TRACTIVE BATTERY OVERNIGHT STORAGE: Tractive Batteries are prohibited from being removed from the competition venue overnight. Teams will be assigned an overnight storage container. Storage of tractive batteries must be done in overnight storage area; no storage in team trailers allowed. Any violators of this rule will be disqualified and removed the site immediately.
TRACTIVE BATTERY FIRE SAFETY: Any required fire response will be managed by MIS Fire & Safety. Students and Volunteers should take immediate action to remove themselves from the danger and call for Fire & Safety.
TRANSLATORS: If a driver is not fluent in English, a translator is required. The translator must be present in the dynamic events area and available to officials whenever that driver is on course. Translators will be issued an additional dynamic area pass, which can be requested during team registration.
WEATHER: Local weather can be unpredictable. In the event of inclement weather, warnings and updates will be communicated via the PA system and the FSAE Mobile App.
During brief weather shutdowns:
- All onsite attendees must follow instructions and announcements for event safety and policy compliance
- If outside the track it is recommended you remain in your vehicles and wait for an all-clear via the FSAE Mobile App before proceeding to pedestrian tunnels or Gate 21.
WHAT TO WEAR: This is a student engineering design competition focused on racecars. All students, spectators, sponsors, and volunteers should dress appropriately for the event.
- Long pants are preferred but not required (EXCEPT in Dynamic Event Areas); if wearing shorts, attire should remain professional.
- Shirts are required.
- Closed-toe shoes are mandatory — anyone wearing open-toe shoes will be asked to change or leave.
- Be prepared for a wide range of weather conditions (sun, rain, or occasionally snow). Bring long- and short-sleeve clothing, sunscreen, a coat, and comfortable closed-toe shoes
