AREA CAPTAIN: Dave McCagg
VENUE: Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, MI, USA
ON-SITE LOCATIONS: Dynamic Events – Gate 12, Gate 50 and Pit Lane
The objective of the Dynamic Gate Staff is to obtain and maintain a safe dynamic environment while facilitating and supporting event staff as well as each competitive team with their unique requirements.
Guidelines: EV competitors
Each team is allowed four (4) people MAX with their vehicle in the dynamic area at any time. To support EV teams one (1) additional Electric System Officer (ESO) must accompany each vehicle.
A team from outside the United States and Canada whose native language is not English in origin and whose team members do not speak English, is allowed an additional Translator to accompany the vehicle. Team members may get a special dynamic pass from student registration. This Translator’s sole purpose is to translate instructions from event staff to the team. He/She is NOT allowed to work on the vehicle at any time..
Each team member and ESO must prominently display their Dynamic Pass provided in their registration package prior to passing into the Dynamic area. Driver’s Dynamic Pass may be held with another team member.
During the Endurance event, only team members whose vehicle is entering or already in the Dynamic area are allowed in the Dynamic Area.
Once the competitor’s vehicle has completed the Dynamic event, ALL team members, advisors, and anyone associated with the competitive vehicle MUST promptly vacate the Dynamic area.
NO SPECTATORS are allowed in the Dynamic Area whether or not they have Dynamic Passes. A separate safe area will be designated for photographers.
Team members may exchange Dynamic Passes with another member outside of the dynamic area.
Team members are allowed multiple entry / exits to support tool / part acquisitions required to complete MINOR repairs to their vehicle.
Vehicles MUST have a Driver seated in their normal operating position in the vehicle whenever it is being transported throughout the site. This includes when the vehicle is entering, exiting, and being translated throughout the Dynamic Area.
The vehicle driver is responsible for safe operation of their vehicle at all times. Extra care should be taken to ensure vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to competitor as well as event staff contact is avoided. Under no circumstances is it allowable to run over the toes or into the ankles of the Dynamic Gate Personnel!
When entering the Dynamic Gate:
- Vehicle MUST have received all Tech stickers prior to entering the Dynamic area for competition.
- Vehicle MUST have an approved fire extinguisher present when entering the Dynamic area.
- Vehicle MUST be pushed with an approved push bar when entering as well as throughout the Dynamic area. Only when the vehicle is in the immediate staging area prepared for a dynamic event may the push bar be removed and the vehicle translated under its own power.
- Engines and all electronics must be shut down and turned off when entering or exiting the Dynamic Gate; cars are to be pushed to and from the Dynamic Gate.
MINOR repairs are allowable in the Dynamic area. Dynamic Gate Personnel will support competitor’s unique requests to facilitate part / tool transport as time and work load permit.
Competitive vehicles may exit the dynamic areas only for the following reasons:
Successfully completing the event - Congratulations to the team!
Mechanical failure or damage to the vehicle which renders it inoperable.
Team voluntarily withdraws from the event.
Dynamic Passes must be returned when the vehicle completes their Endurance race.
