SAE is pleased to announce that the Remote Safety System (RSS) document is now available for teams preparing to participate in the 2026 Driverless competitions. This document provides guidance on the RSS requirements while final technical details and updated specifications from GrossFunk, the designated RSS supplier for the 2026 season, are being finalized.
In addition, SAE is releasing Version 2 of the Driverless Rules Supplement. This updated supplement includes revision bars to highlight changes, but teams are strongly encouraged to review the document in its entirety to ensure they are fully aware of all updates and requirements.
Teams should review both documents carefully to familiarize themselves with the RSS requirements and the updated rules. GrossFunk will provide SAE International with updated datasheets and ordering information for RSS units once available, and any necessary revisions to the RSS document will be communicated at that time.
Documents are located under Series Resources.
- 2026 FSAE Driverless Supplement V2 can be found under Ruleset and Resources
- Driverless Remote Stop System Information V26.1.3 can be found under Technical Inspection Resources - Driverless Resources and Templates
For questions regarding the rules, teams should continue to submit inquiries through the online rules module.
SAE will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
